Charles
Boppe
Charles W.
Boppe heads the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Aeronautics
and Astronautics practice-oriented Master of Engineering Program.
He has been teaching Aerospace Product Design and Systems Engineering
subjects at the Institute for seven years. His teaching responsibilities
also include the structuring and implementation of a Short Course called
Product Development specifically for MIT School of Engineering
faculty members.
Prior to this, he was
a Principal Engineer at Grumman Corporation. Over a period of 25-years
in industry, he was involved in design projects, methodology and technology
development, and program/project problem resolution. A one-year assignment
at NASAs Langley Research Center included research and computer-based
aerodynamic simulation development. His project experiences have included
military, commercial, and experimental aircraft, research and validation
testing, spacecraft, hydrofoils, racing sailboats, wind turbines, projectiles,
and propellers.
He is a member of INCOSE,
AIAA (Fellow), and the SAE. His awards include the NASA Public Service
Medal, AIAA Lawrence Sperry Award, and SAE Wright Brothers Medal.
He holds two U.S. Patents.
